Fantasy Football Weekly Rankings

When examining these fantasy football weekly rankings, take into consideration that we are really only looking at positional ranks, not flex or overall rankings. When it comes to who you start in the flex a lot will depend on your specific league rules and roster construction. If players are ranked within 3 spots of each other the difference between them is negligible, they are expected to score the same amount of points, in those cases go with your gut, flip a coin, or join our Discord Channel.

Quarterback

Patrick Mahomes successfully underwent surgery in Dallas Monday evening with Dr. Dan Cooper to repair the tear in his left ACL. Mahomes will begin his rehab process immediately. Mahomes also tore his LCL, along with his ACL, sources say. While that can complicate recovery, it doesn’t necessary extend his rehab longer than 9 months or so.

We think this is just coach-talk after a very frustrating night, but Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel says “everything is on the table" in regards to Tua Tagovailoa remaining Miami's starter. McDaniel adds that the QB play wasn't good enough Monday night against the Steelers. Miami’s other quarterbacks are Zach Wilson and Quinn Ewers. Ewers will be starting in Week 16.

Running Back

Woody Marks (ankle) is working off to the side with a trainer at Friday's practice, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Dylan Sampson (hand/calf) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed Friday that Michael Carter will start Sunday's game against the Falcons, Theo Mackie of AZCentral reports. Emari Demercado should have a role off the bench behind Carter, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Jerry Jones on wanting Javonte Williams to return next season, via Todd Archer: "I love way he brings the wood, so to speak, when he runs. So looking forward to hopefully him being a Cowboy for a time to come."

Alvin Kamara (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jets, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Texans have signed RB Jawhar Jordan to the active roster from the practice squad.

Former Packers third-round pick Marshawn Lloyd, whom the team was hoping to have return this season, suffered another hamstring injury in recent days. His return is now at best delayed if not derailed.

The Process

My usual process is to only take data from the previous six weeks, I truly believe anything older than that holds little relevance unless there is a player returning from injury or some reason to discount the newer information. In Week 2 we have very little information we can be confident in. The last six weeks of the previous season can give some indication, and the preseason could provide a glimpse of what’s to come or it could be a mirage.

Drake London (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Arizona, with Falcons coach Raheem Morris saying Friday that the expects the wideout to play, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Coach Andy Reid said Rashee Rice (concussion) didn't practice Friday, Charles Goldman of AtoZSports.com reports.

Tee Higgins still has another hurdle to clear in concussion protocol and is questionable, per Bengals coach Zac Taylor.

Tetairoa McMillan (foot, ankle) not listed on injury report for Week 16.

The Jaguars have agreed to terms with WR Jakobi Meyers on a three-year extension worth $60M with $40M guaranteed. Trevor Lawrence has a 104.6 quarterback rating on Jakobi Meyers targets, which is nearly 20 rating points higher than he has targeting any other Jaguars WR this season per sportsinfosolutions.com .

Marvin Harrison Jr. (heel) said he's "good enough to go" in Week 16.

Coach Aaron Glenn said Friday that Garrett Wilson (knee) will remain on IR for the rest of the season, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports.

The Saints placed Devaughn Vele (shoulder) on injured reserve Friday, WWLAM's Jeff Nowak reports.

Rams WR Davante Adams, who left Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury, is considered week-to-week, sources say. That almost certainly knock him out for TNF, but it is simply an aggravation of what he was previously dealing with, not a new injury.

The Jets will be releasing WR Allen Lazard, at his request. He hopes to land with a team that will be in the playoffs.

News or Hype?

The best way to start our weekly approach is to look at implied team totals based on Vegas odds and adjust from there. We need to pay attention to DFS articles and individual player prop-bets (over/under) to get a good idea of how to project median outcomes. With six weeks of data we can begin to examine the individual matchups some players may have, but we can't overreact to that data. There are so many changes from week-to-week in the NFL the best we can do is project a range of outcomes. Picking the outliers is what wins championships.
