Fantasy Football Waiver Wire and Rest of Season Rankings- Week 16

You're still coming back for more? Well, we must be doing something right. Playoffs are here, trade deadlines have already past so all we have left to boost our team is the waiver wire. The waiver offerings have been hit and miss so far this season, but it is time to make some finishing moves.

It's sad to say, but injuries do make the waiver wire more interesting. We are not injury vultures, we wish those that are injured the best of luck, we are just playing a game and are looking to optimize our chances of winning.

Waiver Wire Strategy: The Block. In Week 16, you aren't just adding players for your lineup. You are adding them so your opponent can't. If your opponent needs a QB, you empty the FAAB budget on the best available QB.

Players We Can Drop

When we make waiver claims most of the time we can easily determine who to add, but we struggle with which players to drop. It is very difficult to give-up on a player we thought was worth drafting in the first place. If you are struggling, you should be dropping your questions or concerns in our FREE Discord channel. Don't be afraid of it, I'm over 50 and navigate it fairly well.

Injuries and other updates:

Patrick Mahomes successfully underwent surgery in Dallas Monday evening with Dr. Dan Cooper to repair the tear in his left ACL. Mahomes will begin his rehab process immediately. Mahomes also tore his LCL, along with his ACL, sources say. While that can complicate recovery, it doesn’t necessary extend his rehab longer than 9 months or so.

We think this is just coach-talk after a very frustrating night, but Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel says “everything is on the table" in regards to Tua Tagovailoa remaining Miami's starter. McDaniel adds that the QB play wasn't good enough Monday night against the Steelers. Miami’s other quarterbacks are Zach Wilson and Quinn Ewers.

Michael Carter is expected to serve as the Cardinals' lead back in Sunday's game against the Falcons after Arizona placed Bam Knight (ankle) on injured reserve Tuesday, Zach Gershman of Arizona's official site reports.

Texans have signed RB Jawhar Jordan to the active roster from the practice squad.

Former Packers third-round pick Marshawn Lloyd, whom the team was hoping to have return this season, suffered another hamstring injury in recent days. His return is now at best delayed if not derailed.

Rams WR Davante Adams, who left Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury, is considered week-to-week, sources say. That almost certainly knock him out for TNF, but it is simply an aggravation of what he was previously dealing with, not a new injury.

Saints WR Devaughn Vele avoided major injury to his shoulder, I’m told. Timing of where it happened in the season could make it tricky getting back. He’s week-to-week.

The Jets will be releasing WR Allen Lazard, at his request. He hopes to land with a team that will be in the playoffs.

The Bills are signing veteran kicker Michael Badgley to the practice squad, per source. With Matthew Prater out this week because of a quad injury, Badgley is now in line to be elevated and kick Sunday at Cleveland.

Next time you consider overthinking a DST play in a given week, just remember a top-five Seahawks defense in 2025 scored 4.00 fantasy points at home against Philip Rivers, who was playing his first game in nearly five years.
