Fantasy Football Waiver Wire and Rest of Season Rankings- Week 3

The waiver offerings have been slim pickings so far this season. The running back position is the primary reason, not because of lack of potential. None of the widely available backs are immediately start-worthy because of good drafting and lack of major RB injuries. (Well, besides Austin Ekeler - Achilles) The wide receiver position has a few potential players that could fill in when bye-weeks hit.

On the bright side, the quarterback options are much more appealing than they were last week — and people are going to need good QB options with Joe Burrow (toe) out indefinitely, Brock Purdy (toe) still out, J.J. McCarthy (ankle) out a few weeks, and Jayden Daniels (knee) questionable.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Adds

Players We Can Drop

When we make waiver claims most of the time we can easily determine who to add, but we struggle with which players to drop. It is very difficult to give-up on a player we thought was worth drafting in the first place. If you are struggling, you should be dropping your questions or concerns in our FREE Discord channel. Don't be afraid of it, I'm over 50 and navigate it fairly well.

Injuries

Adam Schefter reports Joe Burrow “will need surgery that will sideline him a minimum of three months.”

Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell said J.J. McCarthy suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 2’s loss to the Falcons and is unlikely to play vs. the Bengals.

Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Jayden Daniels (knee) is “truly day-to-day” and that he “can’t tell” what that means for Sunday now.

Jets announced Justin Fields is in concussion protocol.

Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said RB Aaron Jones (hamstring) is unlikely to play against the Bengals in Week 3.

Cameron Wolfe reports Jaylen Wright (knee) was “real close” to playing last week and that Mike McDaniel is “most optimistic” about Wright playing in Week 3.

Ian Rapoport reports Commanders RB Austin Ekeler suffered a torn Achilles and will miss the rest of the season.

Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said he “expects” to get Christian Kirk (hamstring) back in Week 3.

Jaguars coach Liam Coen said Brian Thomas “had a wrist injury” going into Week 2 and speculated that it may have “played a part in some of this stuff.”

Rest of Season Rankings
